It’s that time again… time to think about the perfect winter coat. Whether it’s style, warmth or rain cover you’re looking for, you need something that works for this season. Turning to the celebs, we can see what is really on-trend for the colder months. Katie Holmes has been seen out and about in an elegant camel trench, Stella McCartney is making a statement in red and Natalie Portman is turning to the Parka to keep out of the cold.

We turn to Net-a-Porter to help us with our first winter warmer. This Joseph wool and cashmere blend (above right) is one of the most stylish and elegant of the offerings this season. Funk it up with some boots and an oversized scarf or keep it simple with some Jimmy Choos. The ultimate in luxury, we are most definitely adding this to our Christmas list!

For a little more of an androgynous feel we love this wool coat by The Row (above left). Also available at Net-a-Porter this is certainly masculine meets minimalism and would work well with a sheer blouse and some monochrome brogues. Tailored to perfection, you couldn’t get a better piece for the office.

If you want to make a statement there is no better way to do it than by standing out from the crowd in bright and bold colours. We suggest FarFetch.com for all you need in standout coats. This red wood coat from Roberta Di Camerino is one of our favourites (above left). With a rounded neck this vintage item is the ultimate in minimalism but adds a touch of glamour with the bright bold shade.

If you want to go a step up try this Alexander McQueen piece (above right). Work it for the office and the pub (though don’t spill). The drop shoulders and long sleeves make it just the cosy item for standing out and keeping warm in the snow this year!

Finally, if you want something a little more snug, you want a Parka. Natalie Portman was seen rocking the very on-trend coat earlier in the year and they have not gone out of style. Let’s face it in England it’s cold more than hot so this is a perfect investment for the autumn, winter and spring months.

We also love the Yves Salomon Parka jacket with fur collar (above left). A more military colour this will be perfect with those biker boots for an edgier aesthetic. Style it with some skinnies and mittens and you are ready to brace the great British weather.
