Winter Break Beauty

If you are lucky enough to be escaping the UK this winter, or even just visiting friends cross-country, keep stylish and stay relaxed during your travels. Looking airport chic isn’t just for the A-listers; by following a few top tips you can travel in comfort while looking your fashionable best. Roxy Kennedy, spas manager at No.1 Traveller shared with us her seasonal beauty secrets.

Before you leave for your winter holiday, it is not only essential to make sure you have packed appropriately, but to get your body Christmas party ready. Even those staying in the UK may need to travel cross country to see different family members and go to various Christmas parties. Needless to say, long hours spent travelling can be exhausting, not to mention over-indulging with food and alcohol can leave you feeling sluggish. Roxy suggests looking after the little things beforehand to reduce worry and cut down party preparation time. Invest in a good manicure which will last throughout the party season and will finish any outfit perfectly. Roxy loves Jessica’s GELeration treatment, which stays perfect for three weeks and can be done at any No.1 Traveller spa. A shimmering colour is right on trend and we love Red Vines, Violet Flame and Mystic. Spa’s across the UK also provide the GELeration treatment and you can view the list of stockists HERE.

With your nails looking party perfect and as fabulous as Victoria Beckham’s, why not now improve your all over wellbeing. Roxy recommends getting a massage in the airport prior to take off, which will loosen your muscles and reduce heightened stress levels. Salons offer a range of massages and No.1 Traveller is no exception. The stress-buster Core Revival massage completely soothes and relaxes the body while an Arm and Leg Package focuses on the areas that feel physically strained due to lengthy stints huddled over a computer. Finally, pick up some De-Stress Muscle Gel from Aromatherapy Associates to ease muscle tension throughout the flight. If you are staying firmly on the ground this Christmas, why not look into a mini spa break as a post-Christmas, pre New Year pick me up? Find a nearby spa experience to suit you and a loved one at Spabreaks.com, or visit Lavish.co.uk to buy Christmas gift vouchers that can be used in more than 350 spas across the UK.

Late night parties and long flights will no doubt leave skin looking dehydrated and lack-luster. Roxy emphasised how important it is to remove makeup during a flight to let skin breathe, much in the same way as you should remove all traces of party makeup when you crash for the night! Use a muslin cloth as they’re extra gentle on skin and easy to keep clean.  We like the purse friendly Vitamin E hot cloth cleanser from Superdrug which comes with its own muslin cloth for under £3. Applying a face or eye mask is the best way to combat dehydration and puffiness. Roxy loves Rodial’s Glamtox Eye Pen and Snake Serum Mask, which are fuss free ways to give skin an in-flight lift. We also like the L’oreal Paris collagen re-plumper night cream and collagen filler eye cream which are both super moisturising and can be bought in any Boots or Superdrug stores across the UK

Before landing, a good moisturiser and serum makes the perfect base for re-applying makeup. Hydrated skin is happy skin and in the winter months skin can dry out very quickly and look dull. Creating the perfect base to apply make-up (be it on the plane or in your own room before a big party) will keep skin looking flawless. Cult product, Philosophy Hope in a Jar is a moisturiser with a huge fan-base and celebrity following. You can purchase it from John Lewis stores in the UK and although it is on the pricey side (£34) it comes in a generous sized pot. If you are looking to treat yourself, why not pick up the serum too; a little goes a long way and it is a flight friendly size! http://www.johnlewis.com/146769/Product.aspx.
