When Kate Middleton first made headlines as Prince William’s student girlfriend back in 2001, we had no idea she’d become an international style icon.
For us, it was the Royal Wedding that marked Kate’s transformation into ‘the one to watch’. She managed to get the balance between girl next door and princess-in-waiting just right in her stunning yet relatively simple Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress.
Since April, we’ve eagerly anticipated what Wills’ new wife will wear next – and she’s yet to disappoint. She’s continued to wow us with her elegance and poise and undeniable ability to accessorise.
We adored the off-white ensemble she paired with chic nude platforms and matching box clutch for The Epsom Derby and were left speechless when she stepped out at Kensington Palace earlier this month in a show-stopping dusky pink Jenny Packham gown and muted LK Bennett heels.
This aside, what we really love about Kate is that she’s seemingly thrown out the Royal rule book. She’s dismissed the wear-once policy to recycle old favourites – she favoured the blue jacquard overcoat she wore to a friend’s wedding in 2009 over something new for Prince Philip’s birthday last week and has shown she’s not afraid to trawl the high street, choosing an understated Reiss design for her meeting with the Obamas.
Whether she’s in Issa, Temperley or Zara there’s one thing we’re certain, Kate can do no wrong.
