Well by now we all know the big news – Beyonce is expecting her first child. Congratulations to the star, who announced the news at last night’s Video Music Awards.

With a night of big performances, the highlights were definitely a tribute to Amy Winehouse, in which Russell Brand asked people to remember her talent and not just her addictions.

The night’s big winners were Katy Perry and Brit girl Adele, who took home three moonmen each. Katy Perry’s Firework won Video of the Year. She also won best collaboration and special effects for E.T. Adele won all three awards for Rolling in the Deep, which included best art direction, cinematography and editing.

Chris Brown brought down the house with a performance that took him sky high, as he was suspended above the audience to perform a collection of his hits.

And as we were expecting Gaga to continue her ladylike look, she managed to surprise us again as she dressed as the male character in her video for You and I, but kept up the act all evening.

Other performances on the evening included Beyonce, Jay Z and Kanye West, Lady Gaga and more. Watch the show tonight on MTV, with the red carpet arrivals showing from 8pm. We can’t wait!
