Fashion month may have ended (sob) but we have seen some amazing new collections, not to mention being introduced to some promising new design talents. Now we thought, as the hype has died down somewhat, we would take a look at three promising new design talents from LFW.
The House of Evolution, made up of three contemporary designers – DAS, MATH and ROHMIR, debuted at the Freemason’s Hall at London Fashion Week; paving the way for innovative and fresh new talent.
DAS, the creation of sisters Reem and Hind Belijafla, focuses on transforming the traditional Abaya garment, worn by Muslim women. Aiming to modernise and revolutionise, the current S/S 2012 collection was inspired by Ancient Greece and Roma, injecting the mystical and historic into contemporary and flowing designs.
MATH takes a more relaxed approach to luxury fashions. Influenced by London’s mixed cultural climate and architecture, MATH by designer Shaz, is a brand for fresh, young city slickers. Easy, loose silhouettes, rich colours and modern layering underlie the MATH aesthetic.
ROHMIR was founded by Olga Rohmir in 2007. Hailing from Russian nobility, Olga’s foray into fashion design has produced some strong ready to wear collections for fierce and modern women. An array of bright colours and textures were used in her S/S 2012 collection, inspired by rain showers and the subsequent sunshine that breaks through. The pieces show a real understanding of the female silhouette and Olga states she is continually enchanted by the classic beauty of female curves.
We can’t wait to see what’s to come from these new designers.
