Last night it was the Oscars of the fashion world as the stars descended on the The Savoy, in London, for the British Fashion Awards.
Sarah Burton was the big winner of the night, taking home the Designer of the Year award. Although up against the likes of Erdem and Christopher Kane, after designing what can only be described as the dress of the year, it was no surprise the award would go to the chief designer at Alexander McQueen.
After being nominated for three awards, Victoria Beckham took home the Designer Brand of the Year accolade. Considering how quickly VB has made the leap into the fashion world, she must be delighted and it seems she is now being recognised for her success.
Stella McCartney took away the Red Carpet Award for creating global awareness of her designs. With celebs across the globe from Rihanna to Kate Winslet wearing her pieces on many a red carpet, we can’t think of anyone who deserves the award more.
There was also a new category this year – New Establishment Award – which went to Christopher Kane. A big congrats for sustaining his initial success!
Alexa Chung once again won the public’s hearts and received the British Style Award, choosing a Christopher Kane dress for the evening and looking as beautiful as ever!
And reinforcing the fact that models can have long careers, 40-year-old Stella Tennant was awarded Model of the Year.
With so many fashionable stars it was hard to say who was the best dressed of the evening! Olivia Palermo made an appearance in Matthew Williamson to present Mary Katranzou with the Emerging Talent Award, along with Samantha Cameron, Kate Hudson and Kate Moss who were also in attendance for one of the biggest nights in fashion.
