Nothing is more important in the winter months than a wear-with-anything coat. We have searched the internet high and low for our fail safe favourites that are guaranteed to keep you snug as the snow descends.
Check Mate
We love the rich purple of the Burberry virgin wool coat. The fashion house singlehandedly brought checks to the forefront of A/W trends and sparked a number of high street imitations. We like this Dorothy Perkins cape, which would look super chic worn with pleather pants and wedge heels.
(Faux) Fur-Real
There is no stopping the faux fur brigade this season. A huge range of colours are available, but for maximum wear-ability stick to neutral shades. We love the Reiss Ivana jacket retailing at £295 or the gorgeous plum shaggy fur coat, £98 from Topshop.
Bare Minimalism
Do away with fussy details and wear boxy shapes and loose silhouettes for a modern minimalistic feel. Black and cream colours work best with a neutral colour palette, although bright polo necks would look amazing worn under both of these coats.
Do it Like a Dude
Manish, oversized blazers are this season’s most popular coat style. We love the contrasting leather sleeves on this Zara combined coat, £119. For a more classic look, we like the French Connection Jumpjack twill coat, £200.
Lady Like
Finally, bright shades and fur collars add lady-like details to feminine silhouettes. We can’t decide between the Paul and Joe sister double breasted coat in lively red and the Topshop tweed coat, complete with cute tie on fur collar by designer Izzy Lane.
