Shopping + Social Media =

We all enjoy online shopping, hence iFashion, but it can be a little unsocial compared to hitting the high street with your friends. A new website, however, has worked out a way to solve this problem by allowing you to shop socially.

Shopow.com is a new shopping search engine that allows you to share shopping tips with your friends.

The new concept of social shopping means you can use social networking to share tips, discounts, reviews and ask for advice from your friends when picking your favourite products online.

Shopow is a free site and not only makes shopping more social but also means you can compare the items and see which really are worth purchasing.

A recent study showed that 49% of consumers already give shopping advice to others through social networking sites. Shopow has all the elements in one place encourages this community activity and highlights your friends’ experiences to create a really powerful force in online shopping.

Even when users are not searching for a specific product, Shopow’s personalised feed helps users to keep abreast of trends, deals and shopping activity. Members of the site can invite Facebook and Twitter friends to share reviews, ask and answer questions and spread the news when they find a great deal or a must have product using the Shopow Strike.  In short, online shopping has now become quicker, cheaper and a lot more enjoyable.

Shopow displays reviews, Q&As and strikes (shared bookmarks) that have already been collected around a product, so users will be able to gauge an opinion generated by other shoppers much like the feedback option on eBay.

The site will also analyse your likes and interests as you go about striking and reviewing products, and will personalise your shopping results to enhance your experience and serve you more relevant results. Also if a Shopow user cannot find the information they need, they will be able to ask a question which will be open to answes across the Shopow community. Questions will also be pushed to Facebook, Twitter and your Shopow network to get a quick answer from somebody the user trusts.

Mike Harty, Co-founder and COO of Shopow said, “Shopow is set to become the Facebook of online shopping. It’s completely driven by the users and the reviews are trustworthy, particularly because you can see the opinions of your own friends. It allows you to buy in confidence at a price you can afford.”

The site has distanced itself from the shopping comparison sites that are skewed towards the big retailers that pay them the most money.  Instead, Shopow has gone to great lengths to ensure that it stays wholly independent and free from bias meaning products at the top of the list really are the best in terms of price, service or any other attribute you select.

Once you’ve found the best deal, you can use a Shopow Strike to share it with friends. Users that ‘strike’ products can send their network a bookmark to the product, meaning your friends won’t miss out on that irresistible bargain.
