Monki is officially our new favourite international boutique. After lusting over Monki’s various online lookbooks, the Monki web store came into existence earlier this year. With international shipping, we can finally get some Scandinavian cool injected into our wardrobe. It really is the next best thing to visiting one of the mysterious Monki lands; each shop themed and filled to the brim with treasures. The flagship store in Stockholm runs with the ‘Sea of Scallops’ theme, but other themes include the Bio-hazardous City of Oil and Steel and the strange Forgotten Forest.
The Monki stores are individually part of a bigger universe that tells of the Monki story; which is in turn expressed through the clothing. Of course, these fantastical lands are only as good as the products held within. The clothes are unique, edgy and are full of personality; not overly fussy and with the appeal of everyday wear. They are the perfect projection of the Scandinavian aesthetic; achingly cool with an all-important contemporary design core. The website is full of inspiration, lookbooks and top picks, making the entire shopping experience insightful and highly enjoyable.
We absolutely love the range of sweaters; from ribbed knits to elbow patched pull-overs you can get a jumper for everyday of the week in every imaginable colour! Monki also has a great outwear selection; we love the chic Elana cape and the faux fur Andora jacket. Let’s not mention the shoes, just in case you rack up a small fortune in the space of a few minutes, though we can definitely see the yellow Eva boots making a welcome addition to our shoe rack! To see exactly what we are raving about, visit www.monki.com now and make sure you have your card on hand. Just don’t blame us if you end up spending more than planned! Monki also have a small concession store in Selfridges London, so if you are in the area make sure you have a look as it is also themed.
