Making the cut!

When we see the celebs sporting such a massive range of hairstyles, it’s hard not to get bored with our own. The likes of Katy Perry, Rihanna and Jessie J seem to change styles (or at least colours) on a daily basis.

However, before you go chopping off all your locks in favour of a celebrity style, we suggest you check it will suit your face shape.

First let’s start with the pixie crop. Sported by the likes of Emma Watson, Franke Sandford and Estelle.

Before you decide to go for the short look it’s important to decide on your face shape. The pixie crop is mainly called this because it suits pixie-faced people i.e – big eyes, beautiful and small faces.

These lucky people can pull off these styles because they have beautiful faces. If your hair is ‘your beauty’ or you have a long face, it may not work too well.

If you’re not lucky enough to be a pixie, there’s no need to worry. Got a long face? The you will almost certainly suit a fringe much more than those pesky pixies. Whether you want to go full on fringe a la Jessie J, or just try out a whispy side fringe, it will suit most face shapes except those that are a little on the small side – though depending on the quality of your hairdresser even then it can work.

Another great option is the simple bob. Alexa Chung and now Pixie Lott have opted for these styles, which are great for a pretty face. If you face is a little on the large side try not to get it too short and get some layers cut in. There are so many different versions of a bob and then you can add a fringe as well… the possibilities are endless.

Try out some colour of some sharp cuts for an edgier style or stick to wispy thin ends for a more feminine look.

Finally it’s big hair that’s in! Who doesn’t love this (except those X Factor lot in the US). If you want to go the full hog, why not try a perm or just add some heated rollers if you’re not feeling that brave.

If you have a tiny body (like Cheryl) maybe stay away from big hair for the fear of looking a little Vanessa from Eastenders but otherwise go wild!
