Celebrities always look so flawless – but this is predominantly due to the fact they have access to the best make-up artists and products out there. Achieving a great make-up look is not as hard as you might think and certainly doesn’t need to cost a lot. iFashion has outlined how to achieve four timeless make-up trends, from dewy minimalism to bold lips and smokey eyes. Take a look at our celebrity inspirations and read on to start experimenting!
Natural Nudes
Kate always looks so fresh faced and healthy. Apart from the fact she has naturally amazing skin, make-up helps her to achieve the perfect dewey ‘flushed’ look. A great primer is always a must to help minimise pores and keep foundation in place all day long. To achieve this natural daytime look, prime the skin, then use a foundation brush to apply a lightweight liquid foundation over the face. Use a creamy concealer under eyes to brighten and conceal dark circles, paying extra attention to the inner corners where they tend to be darkest. Use a pinky cream blush on the apple of the cheeks to imitate Kate’s rosy glow. Cream blush is better than powder blush when trying to achieve a natural look, as powders tend to have a mattifying effect. Finally apply some mascara to the lashes and a natural lip tint to the lips. Swipe some clear lipgloss over when the tint has dried and voila!
Cat’s Eyes
It’s all about the eyes with Pixie. By keeping the rest of the makeup toned down, a darker eye doesn’t look too overpowering. To start, prime (as always) and apply a medium coverage matt foundation over the face and under eyes. Next, line the top lids with liquid liner and flick from the outer corner, to achieve an elongated ‘cats eye.’ Use kohl pencil for the lower lid and smudge slightly to get a smoky effect. To finish off, apply lashings of lengthening mascara, or if brave, false lashes. To complete the look, add a dash of clear gloss to the lips.
Smokey Eye
Beyonce looks amazing with smokey eyes and this is easily achieved with the right products and techniques. Prime your face and apply a medium to full coverage liquid foundation all over, including the under eye area. Fill in eyebrows with a brow pencil the same shade as your natural brow and brush them into place. A good tip to keep pesky eyebrow hairs in shape is to spray them with a tiny bit of hairspray! Start the eye make up by applying a darker grey shadow to the entire upper lid. Next, blend a lighter grey shadow just above the crease and smudge the two colours together. Using a precision eyeliner brush, smudge the lighter grey shadow below the bottom lashline. For highlighting under the brows and the corners of the eye, use a creamy hi-lighter (the ones that come in stick forms are the best.) Finally, add lashings of volumizing mascara and you are ready to hit the town!
Bold Lips
Sienna always obeys the number one rule when adopting a red lip: play the rest of your make up down! Like Kate Bosworth, Sienna’s skin is always dewy; so smooth a lightweight liquid foundation or tinted moisturiser on first. Brighten any dark circles with a reflecting concealer and apply a thin line of liner to the upper lid only. Mascara too, should only be applied to the top lashes. For the lip, apply a bright pinkish red mattifying lipstick all over, blot, then reapply.
