Tomorrow, LFW official kicks off! If you can’t see your favourite designer collections from the front row, there are still plenty of ways to get the most out of the most exciting week on the fashion calendar. Multiple events, pop-up booths and beauty salons are expected to appear all over the capital to make your fashion week experience the best yet.
Firstly we suggest you check out our fashion weekend competition HERE where you can shop til you drop!
Fashion bible Harper’s Bazaar has set up some great events, including a talk from the US editor-in-chief Glenda Bailey, who is hosting a lecture in the V&A museum on Sunday 18th September. There will also be a book signing taking place for her new book – Harper’s Bazaar Greatest Hits. While at the V&A, be sure to make the most and visit the free exhibition ‘The Power of Making’.
If sample sales and shopping is more your thing, visit the Esprit store on Regent St tomorrow (Sept 16th) from 8pm onwards to celebrate the launch of the new limited edition collection with RCA. All about sustainable fashion, expect casual knits, dresses and denim. Treats and complimentary drinks will be available in store as well as live music. Don’t forget to pick up a goody bag when you leave!
One thing is for certain; all the running around for LFW will surely work up an appetite. For a truly exclusive experience head to posh Mayfair eatery, Sketch, which has teamed up with My-wardrobe.com for an exclusive Michelin star 3 course champagne lunch. Visit Sketch.uk.com for more information and to pick up a £50 gift voucher to spend online at My Wardrobe. The luncheon costs £60 and will run from tomorrow until 5th October.
If a quick sugary snack is more suited tempting than haute cuisine, head to Millie’s cookies for limited edition fashion week food, designed by Elizabeth Lau, Lu Flux and Yang Du. 10% off the retail price will go to a charity of the designers’ choice. At £12.99 a cookie, we are not sure we would want to eat ours though!
Finally it wouldn’t be right if we atiFashion didn’t give you the details on how to stay up-to-date with LFW online! We suggest downloading the top apps for the occasion and Silicon Roundabout Social Club has come up with some of the best:
First up it’s Lyst, which lets you follow your favourite designers, magazines, boutiques and bloggers so you can see what items are inspiring them. You can also add items from around the site to your own lyst to share them with your followers. When you follow someone, their items and updates appear straight in your stylefeed making fashion discovery easier than ever.
For London Fashion Week, Lyst has introduced a live runway tracker, so you can see the brand new collections as they are shown, track your favourite pieces and Lyst will tell you as soon as they’re in stock in any store worldwide. Your front row seat to LFW from your desk! Visit www.lyst.com for more info.
Next up it’s ADDPIKS. Whether you browse magazines, or are attending this year’s London fashion week, Addpiks is the must have iphone app for busy fashionistas. How do you remember your favourite items from the hundreds of dresses, shoes and designers? Perhaps you snap a picture, commit to memory, jot a few notes on paper or even tear out the page. Addpiks makes remembering easy. You simply snap the item, annotate (price, store, brand etc) and organise it into a Scrapbook. You can also share with friends and even set a reminder for yourself to nudge you when out shopping. They even have a cool ‘find it’ feature coming soon. For more info visit www.addpiks.com
Finally LOOKK provides a platform for young designers to enter the market. It allows them to showcase their designs to a community of fashion-lovers, all of whom have the opportunity to feedback on what they love and directly influence the items that are produced for sale within the LOOKK Webshop. LOOKK’s has an impressive set of seed investors including Net-a-Porter founder Carmen Busquets. Visit www.lookk.com for more info.
