What: Scrumptious Afternoon Tea in a Peaceful Atmosphere
Where: Landmark London
Why: Because it’s always Tea Time!
On Friday afternoon I held off scoffing a massive lunch and at 4pm tottled along to the Landmark London for some very special afternoon tea.
I had seen pictures of the hotel’s winter garden before walking in and was keen to see if it looked as good as the pictures. It didn’t…. it looked better! I couldn’t stop gazing up at the palm trees and the glass ceiling of the hotel’s beautiful centre. I must have looked like a bit of a drooling idiot as the waiter asked if we were ready to be seated. Despite being about half an hour early, the staff were more than happy to seat us in a great spot and we were instantly transported to holiday paradise… or at least that’s what it felt like.
It’s very unusual to be in the centre of London and to feel like you are on a gorgeous mediterranean island instead. There were a few tea options to choose from and although being tempted to try the Chocolate Afternoon Tea, we went for the Summer option instead.
Our waiter soon brought out the three-tier plate and explained exactly what was on it. There was so much to remember, but it all looked amazing. Deciding between the cucumber, or salomon, or chicken or egg sandwiches at the bottom was the first thing to do and as my eyes moved up the tiers they got wider and wider. With tasty cakes including coffee bites and carrot cake and even rasberry mousse, I undid my belt… it was about to get a little tight!
Making the most of the scrumptious sandwiches, another round was quickly brought out. With little bite size pieces it’s easy to think you can get through a truck load but in reality they are very filling – even without the crusts! Just when we thought we couldn’t eat any more, the scones were delivered, and they were too good to leave!
I tucked in and felt like I gained a few pounds – well worth it though. The food was delicious and there was a great peaceful atmosphere. I was a little worried the place might be a bit stuffy but everyone was chatting and it was all very relaxed.
My verdict is 10 out of 10. The perfect place to enjoy an afternoon treat!
