It was finally revealed and, as we had all suspected, Kate was wearing a dress made by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen for her big day.
The dress itself was beautiful and fairly simple compared to previous royal weddings, with lace applique flowers and of course sleeves, a very fitting choice. It was elegant and yet modern without losing any of the traditional elements essential for the occasion. The dress has also already had the highest of praise from various fashion insiders and was obviously a huge success.
The service was beautiful and, despite the billions of people watching, it seemed like you were spying on a private event. The best bit we think was when William whispered ‘You look beautiful’ to Kate as she stood alongside him.
What many had tuned in to see of course was the fashion and boy was there a lot to talk about…
What they Wore…
One of the most talked about pieces had to be Princess Beatrice’s Phillip Treacy hat. We’re still not sure if we love it or hate it but many have said it was a definite miss. We do have to give her applause for her blush Valentino dress though… stunning. Her sister Princess Eugenie did not fair as well in a busy Vivienne Westwood gown which had a little bit too much going on.
Everyone had been left wondering what Samantha Cameron would turn up in and although her Burberry dress proved to be a hit, the lack of accessories was somewhat of a faux pas.
Victoria Beckham was another we had high hopes for who did not impress as much as we would have liked, though her options were of course a little more limited. Her Christian Louboutins were a little too high for the occasion but we applaud her ability to walk in them.
The surprise of the day and the one many are talking about is Pippa Middleton and her gown, also made by Sarah Burton. She looked elegant and beautiful and a little too sexy! Many have agreed she might now be the next down the aisle!
