Vintage fashion ruled at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival.
Hoards of fashionistas packed their wellies and floaty dresses and hopped on the ferry for the first major music festival of the year on the beautiful Isle of Wight. Despite the odd shower it appeared nothing could deter those music-loving style chicks from rocking festival fashion to the max!
If the IOW is anything to go by the 2011 festival season will be the perfect platform for those wishing to work this season’s ’70s trend. Oversized tasselled bags, big sunglasses, hats and denim dresses (complete with huge collars) were seen in abundance on the island.
In fact it appears vintage fashion in general is going nowhere when it comes to making a statement at festivals. Despite the mud, ladies were still seen wafting around in quirky retro dresses, made of delicate cottons and chiffon….topped off with an obligatory flower hair garland or straw hat.
Even new girl band on the block Parade (who probably struggle to remember the ’90s let alone any prior decade!) donned a mixture of ’80s stone-washed denim, cute ’40s hair scarves and vintage Chanel. What we were wondering was how on earth they navigated around the tents and puddles in those giant ’70s platforms!
