What: An entirely new Giraffe

Why: Amazing edamame beans, great cocktails and even better service

London Soho: busy, loud and very cut-throat. The food offering is vast and it seems like a maze of restaurants. Then I heard of a newcomer, Giraffe Bar & Grill. It has been open for only four weeks, however a few friends have already been buzzing about it, so obviously I had to go and test the waters myself!

So on Saturday we arrived to Frith Street full of excitment about the restaurant, something I haven’t felt in a long time. I figure this because we all know Giraffe for weekend lunches and its amazing presence. I was excited to see how it would all transfer to Soho in the form of a ‘proper’ restaurant.

We were welcomed by gentle disco sounds, pumping beats straight into my system. Staff seemed very nice to be honest, polite, non rushing and always there when you needed something. As we sat down I took in the decor, very European, relaxed, funky and fun! The shrimp flat bread arriveed with our cocktails, flat bread is FLAT and cocktails slighty too easy to drink. They were lush! I’m addicted to edamame beans, so naturally ordered some to see how they served them: dripping in soy sauce, rolled in rock salt and most impotantly, WARM! I have been to many “fancy” Asian restaurants and Giraffe’s edamame beans win hands down, incredible. The mains arrived with a wine suggestion from Nathan (he is my new go-to-guy with wine), marinated sirloin steak and beef ribs were washed down with Boom Boom. Look it up. Perhaps the nicest red wine I have had in a long time. My steak was cooked to perfection and his beec ribs were so succulent, I had to fight with him to get a taste. Incredible is the word I’m looking for.

Giraffe Bar & Grill has only been open for a month, but I truly think that it is here to stay. Soho needed something new and exciting, something that people are going to love over and over again. The place is pretty incredible and best of all very reasonably priced. I’m in awe. Thank you Giraffe for showing me what eating out in Soho should be like!
