Giles Deacon has left his post as creative director behind french fashion house Emanuel Ungaro. Both the designer and the brand state it was a mutual decision, but after less than two years at the helm, rumours are already circulating that it could be due to the fact Giles has received a better job offer. With the creative direction of Dior still very much in discussion, Deacon could be another viable option.
Talking to Vogue about his departure, Giles stated his plans to concentrate on the global development of his own brand mixed with some one-off projects that are currently in the pipeline for 2012. Let’s not forget the Giles S/S 2012 collection showcasing at LFW on Monday evening also.
Ungaro, on the other had, has yet to announce a successor. The brand has had a string of designers in just six years, including one season with Lindsay Lohan. One thing is for sure, the future of the brand depends on a designer as apt as Giles to take control.
