My best friend and I have been friends for 20 years today! She was five and I was four when we bonded in the Primary School playground and became BFFs.

So, it got me thinking about celebrity BFFs. How they become friends? Are all the rumours of splits really true and what keeps their bond alive?

First up it’s Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox, who of course became friends on the set of ‘Friends’ more than a 20 years ago.

It is easy to see why the two became close after spending days, months and years filming one of the most popular sitcoms ever. They bonded over instant fame as well as the famous Friends pay disputes. Although always tight they became especially close, according to rumours, when Jen split with Brad Pitt. Courteney did what every BFF should and gave one shoulder to Jen to cry on and her other shoulder served cold to Mr Pitt!

Now the once inseparable pair seem to be taking a break from their friendship. Rumours of Courtney’s relationship with Cougar Town co-star Brian Van Holt, as well as Jen making new Hollywood friends have all been blamed for the rift. I really hope the girls hold it together as they seemed to have a bond too strong to fall at the first sign of trouble.

A fairly new best friendship is Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes. With so many things in common; style, young children, famous husbands… it is no wonder the two became so close.

It was widely thought that when Victoria first moved to LA she felt lonely and a little homesick. It seemed making friends with the Cruises was a way out of this and they attended fashion shows, double dates and even sports events together.

It has even seemed at times that Katie has followed Victoria’s diet and style. Who would have thought Joey from Dawson’s Creek and the posh Spice Girl? After the birth of Harper Seven, the two now have even more in common and Suri may have to look out for her crown as the most stylish little girl in Hollywood!

Another fairly new pair are Katy Perry and Rihanna. Holidaying together in 2009, the singers have been firm friends ever since.

Their main common interest? Partying of course. The friends are often seen going for it on a night out and Rihanna even organised Mrs Brand’s hen do.

There have been rumours that the friendship has seen hard times, especially when RiRi failed to show at the Perry-Brand wedding! But we see a long future for this pair of party girls.
