Us girls at iFashion Magazine were brimming with excitement yesterday over the lead up to the CFDA awards in New York. Who was going to win? What outrageous ensemble was Lady Gaga going to wear? Well here’s our lowdown…
Even though there was a myriad of colours strutting down the red carpet like peacocks, it was 28-year-old model Miranda Kerr who managed to outshine the hoards of uber-fashionable A-listers in a stunningly chic black Michael Kors skirt and top. With her on-trend cut-outs and accessories to boot, we’re definitely going to keep an eye on this one.
Other stars that shone last night were Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, both dressed in their own label The Row, and Kirsten Dunst, who in our opinion is channeling the look of our very own Alexa Chung with her Partrick Ervell tux and shirt.
And of course there was Lady Gaga, there to accept her Fashion Icon Award from the CFDA. The 25-year-old singer rocked out in a Thierry Mugler corseted dress accessorised with a turquoise wig to add a splash of colour to her otherwise monochrome look. Is it us or is Gaga toning it down a little bit? We haven’t seen anything to rival THAT meat dress in a long time…
And the winners were:
Womenswear Designer of the Year: Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler.
Menswear Designer of the Year: Michael Bastian
Accessory Designer of the Year: Alexander Wang
Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Prabal Gurung
Swarovski Award for Menswear: Robert Gellar
Swarovski Award for Accessory Design: Eddie Borgo
Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award: Marc Jacobs
Fashion Icon Award: Lady Gaga
International Award: Phoebe Philo for Céline
Congratulations to them all! Want to know more about some of those nominated for the CFDA Awards? Take a look HERE.
