The 64th Annual Cannes Film Festival kicked off yesterday.
As always the stars arriving on the red carpet caused a stir it was a scrap to see who would be the best dressed of them all.
Uma Thurman and Rachel McAdams both decided to stun the crowds all in white.
Uma, a jury member at this year’s festival, showed off a range of designers throughout the first day. She arrived in Louis Vuitton, then changed into Dolce & Gabbana and finally showed a slightly more revealing white Versace gown in the evening.
Rachel, who was there to promote Midnight in Paris, also chose two stunning looks including a flesh coloured Marchesa dress with red embroidery and a Maxime Simoens white shift dress with shoulder detail.
More celebrities to make an appearance on the first day included Lady GaGa, who gave a performance on the television show Le Grand Journal.
Actress Salma Hayek also arrived at the festival to promote new film ‘Puss in Boots’ with Antonio Banderas, wearing an eye-catching leather red dress by Gucci.
