What: Belgian food with a relaxed twist
Where: Cafe Luc (www.cafeluc.com)
Why: Perhaps one of the best restaurants in London
I have found something pretty special in Marylebone and it is my duty to tell you all about it!
Last Friday I was wondering the streets of Marylebone after topping up my Diptyque collection. As I stepped out the store I noticed a brassiere / restaurant opposite that was literally pulling me towards the doors! I was thirsty from a busy week and my stomach was telling me to eat asap. The only way wasn’t Essex, but Cafe Luc.
The first thing you notice is the adorable outside setting. It feels like you’re not in Central London, but on a quaint street somewhere in Belgium. The sun was shining as I sat down for a cocktail while waiting for my partner to arrive (he was dubious as I told him where we were having dinner). As my Bellini arrived, I did a little research on the place and found out that it has been running for about a year. It is run by a couple and their mission is to have a place you can come and relax, have few drinks and enjoy amazing food.

My date arrived as his cocktail did and we went inside and took a seat at our table. I started to take in the surroundings and was little in awe. The top of the bar counter is decorated with what looks like brown glass tears, they reflect light all over the place and makes it glitter. Gorgeous green walls, very comfortable seating and smiling staff ready to help in any way. I was already sold!
After thinking about what to eat for a good while, I decided on a steak tartare for starters and lamb for main. The place started to fill, people talking, clearly having a good time and then sense of not being in London grew stronger with all the French being spoken. My steak tartare arrived and I was excited. The chef wants to have the best steak tartare in the city and I think he is hitting that spot, my lamb was out of this world and we even shared few dishes to get a proper taste. Incredible. Seriously. I have not had food this good in a long while. For dessert I had a Crème Brule Nutella, safe to say I was finished by the time the plate was licked clean.
Cafe Luc, I thank you for entertaining us, the service was incredible, food mouth-watering and we felt totally relaxed in your setting. I strongly advice you all to go check this place out, my newest hotspot in Marylebone. I can’t wait to go back and have a taste of their Champagne Afternoon Tea.
