Spring calls to mind lazy days soaking up the sun in pretty dresses or rocking out at a festival in a mis-match of vintage inspired prints. Due to the recent burst of cold weather in the UK, it is fair to say the iFashion team is looking forward to some sunshine more than ever and think that this week’s BOTW, Dahlia, is the perfect choice for getting us in a springtime mood.
The brand started out in 2000, when designer Tracey and her sister Leigh started selling their homemade garments at Portobello and Spitafields markets. The trademark British quirkiness and playful prints soon caught the attention of style devotees and hype about the brand grew via word of mouth. Not long after, the buyers from Topshop expressed an interest and now Dahlia is stocked there, as well as a dedicated boutique in Carnaby. Of course the website is our first port of call and the online destination is just as delightful as the garments themselves! As well as the usual webshop, the website has a special ‘Girlfriends’ blog which is compiled by a group of style bloggers who all love Dahlia!
The S/S collection is brimming with girly details, such as gingham checks, ditzy floral prints and cute cut outs. Dipped hemlines feature and flowing chiffon fabrics add to a care-free nonchalance that is defined by the Dahlia girl. In contrast, some edgy garments underpin the more feminine pieces, pinstripes and a full mesh skirt give the collection a rock n roll undertone (perfect for festivals).
The items we have been eyeing up include the Jodie open back floral dress and the stylish print keyhole dress. To tackle the asymmetric trend, we suggest the gorgeous dip hem pin spot chiffon dress, a perfect floaty option to wear day and night! Finally, we have fallen for the Jessie mesh full length skirt. A conversation starter, this tough piece looks amazing as styled on the Dahlia website! To lust over these pieces and more, visit Dahliafashion.co.uk.
