This week we bring you a rather special BOW, gorgeous designer label Bastyan. Tonia Bastyan graduated with a degree in fashion and Textiles from Ravensbourne College and went on to create one of the most successful designer labels of the ’90s; Press and Bastyan. After eight years’ working with the brand, Tonia moved on to become senior designer at Whistles, gaining invaluable mid-market experience. Fast forward to spring 2010, and Tonia decided to utilise her creativity and skills to start up Bastyan, a luxury clothing brand aimed at the largely ignored 35+ market. Bastyan caters to women looking for design and high quality from the upper-middle market.
Despite appealing to older women, the sophisticated and stylish pieces would integrate into any working woman’s wardrobe. Every item has a practical sensibility, matched with clean, contemporary design and a luxurious quality. We absolutely adore the chic range of coats; clean and timeless they would definitely see through more than one season. Currently there is a limited edition £100 off offer, so if your new season coat has yet to be purchased, a Bastyan design would be a worthwhile investment.
The A/W lookbook demonstrates how the Bastyan collection seamlessly works together to create a flawless desk to dinner wardrobe, not to mention a great selection of dress jeans. Our favourite picks range from the amazing zip detail jeans (black denim with gold zip detailing makes for a tough-luxe contrast) to the bright red Rosie Raglan jacket, which covers the neck when buttoned up but looks like a biker jacket unbuttoned. The Solene sequin tunic would see you through day to night, or for unabashed sophistication, you could slip into the beautiful beaded bodice dress.
