Thrifty, vintage loving, ’60s enthusiast Tonya Smith is our blogger of the week. Her personal style blog The Moptop is a treasure trove of nifty vintage finds, images inspired by wanderlust, earthy muses and an un-dying love for the brand Free People. What inspired you to start The Moptop?
I had been shopping online one day and came across Free People’s website and I instantly fell in love. I was so inspired that eventually I decided to start my own fashion blog. At first I really only posted about other people’s outfits but I eventually started to post my own personal style.

How would you describe your signature style?
It has always been difficult for me to pinpoint my style. I would say it’s a mix of boho/vintage and never really too girly. I always try to play with the contrast of the masculine/feminine look.

What is the greatest reward that blogging has brought you?
There are so many things. I love being constantly inspired by other bloggers and it’s wonderful how friendly and supportive everyone is. At one point I was contacted by Free People to keep their email in hopes of working for them someday, once I have completed college. That was definitely an exciting day for me!

Do you think blogging has any negatives?
I think a negative side of it is money. A lot of success of blogging can depend on how much money one has. If you have a fancy camera, a photographer and money to always spend on clothes…it can be easy to become a successful blogger. That’s kind of unfortunate to me. There are also some negative people out there that can bring people down, which is never fun to deal with.

Who is your favourite fashion blogger and why?
I couldn’t pick a favourite one. There are so many amazing blogs and bloggers that I follow!

If you had 10 minutes to get ready for a blogger meet up, what would you put together?
Most likely a vintage/floral dress, tights, and my lace up boots. It’s practically what I live in!

iFashion is all about shopping online. What are your favourtie online boutiques?
Free People obviously! I also love Nasty Gal, their styling is always so inspiring and edgy. Urban Outfitters and Etsy, even though Etsy isn’t really considered a boutique…it’s still amazing!

What is the most loved item in your wardrobe and why?
I have a Gap dress that’s navy and polka dotted…and I love it so much! I even got it at a thrift store. It’s so comfy and I love how it looks on me. I also am always wearing my Vintage lace up boots, they’re amazing!

What S/S trend are you most looking forward to wearing?
I still can’t get enough of high-waisted shorts in the summer! I don’t think they will ever go out of style…at least not for me.

Finally, if any, what are you top New Year’s resolutions?
I have a few actually! Read more books, keep up with my Etsy store, eat more fruits & veggies, go on hikes/walks more, save up for a new camera!, take more film photos and take one night a week to relax (night without internet or technology).
