As a musician, would you say your musical style influences the way you dress?
Absolutely, but it goes both ways. I actually started creating the original sketches for my debut collection while we were in the studio working on my latest single – Devil’s In the Detail. Usually when I’ve got a gig coming up the first thing I’m thinking about is what I’m going to wear and how I’m going to encompass the feeling of my music through the visuals of my style. On the other hand, when I’m on the set of fashion shoots the first thing I’m worrying about is if we’ve got the right music playing! My music influences, my fashion sense and my style influences, as well as what I create musically, go hand in hand.

If you had 10 minutes to get ready for a gig, what would you put on?
My first thought would be my favourite black platform boots, black thigh high socks, a little shift dress tank and my favourite black lace Azuki poncho… and a whole lot of awesome chains and rings!

iFashion is all about shopping online. What are your favourite online shops and why?
LA Vintage – I love mixing vintage pieces with eclectic current trends or accessories, and I think this is the best place to buy vintage online.
Pixie Market – Has a huge range of cutting edge styles, designers and labels.
In Love With Fashion – Everything is so my style and really really affordable which I love!
Nasty Gal – Just look at what they’ve got, nothing else needs to be said.
Etsy – Love Etsy for all the unique, one-offs, hand made and vintage things you can find. It’s a one stop shop for items and also my supplies for my own handmade jewellery collection – I also get a lot of inspiration from everything here!

Who are your musical icons and do you get style inspiration from them?
On both the music and fashion sides – I’m completely mesmerised by the 1960ss and 1970s. My favourite bands are The Doors and The Rolling Stones… I love both Jim Morrison and Mick Jagger’s attitudes and the way they embraced fashion and actually set the standard for Rock N Roll style… Alongside the bands I love were of course the women – and it’s their style I admire too! Some stand out icons I could name would be Anita Pallenberg, Donna Mitchell, Edie Sedgewick, Twiggy, Jerry Hall…

What is your most prized possession?
I’d probably say my Mac… I edit all my photos and videos, store my music, create new ideas… it’s kind of scary to think that most of my creative life is stored on this little white machine. Secondly I’d say my live looping pedal… because he makes my solo live shows a little extra fun for both me and the audience. You can see it in use on my Youtube channel.

What is the one item you would save for a year to purchase?
I would actually really love an original Andy Warhol Print – it’d have to be either Mick Jagger, Elvis Presley or an iconic Marylin Monroe – although I’d probably need to save for a lifetime for that!

Sydney obviously has a much warmer climate than the UK. Do you think beach culture is reflected in Australian fashion or are the influences from elsewhere?
I think overall the beach culture is definitely reflected in our fashion. We have a lot of skate and surf brands which are really crossing over lately and I think as sun and beach lovers we tend to gravitate towards effortlessly cool and light fashion trends. The kind of things you can throw over a pair of bathers after a day at the beach but still look great for Sunday night drinks. It’s generally quite warm all year around (we don’t have a super cold winter) so it’s less about big chunky jackets and more about layers. I’m seeing so many amazingly fashion forward collections emerging from upcoming and established designers, really intriguing looks. I think as Australian designers we have a knack for mixing flow and cutting edge trends, which keeps it all fresh and unique.

What are you looking forward to wearing during the long Australian summer?
I’m really looking forward to my own collection being available, I actually designed it with summer music festivals in mind! This summer I’m dreaming about strapless maxi dresses, anything tie-dye, bathers that can be doubled as bodysuits or underlays, flowing ethereal pieces, high waited shorts, midriff sloppy tees and tanks, big 70′s hats, my collection of vintage sunglasses and gorgeous embellished sandals… I’m looking forward to the sun-kissed tan and pushing all of my accessories choices to the extreme!
