Blogger Style: Katie

As our Blogger Style features continue, we have come across a range of different looks. From vintage and classic to minimalism, we have now arrived at maximism (if there is such a thing). This week iFashion had the pleasure of catching up with Kate from WhatKatieWore.com.

Katie started the blog with Joe, who writes it, as a challenge to try to wear a different outfit everyday. The challenge finished in January 201 but the blog has continued long after and has been a massive success. We can see why with Katie’s eclectic sense of style and fabulous fashion. It seems it’s all about having fun, as is supposed to be the thinking behind fashion.

We had a chat with Katie and here’s what she had to say:

When did you first become interested in fashion?
Oh ever since I was a very, very wee girl. My mum and dad say that from as old as I could talk I had a very strong sense of the colours I wanted to wear (all of them, and never really black) and even at nursery I would throw a tantrum if they put me in trousers – I wanted to wear my Laura Ashley party dresses even in the sandpit!

Do you have any more challenges up your sleeve?
I can’t quite believe that I’ve worn a different outfit every day for almost three years, but in terms of other challenges, I think there will always be shorter challenges within that, like the Anthony one I did a while back (more HERE) but it’s up to Joe whether the main challenge behind the blog will change or develop.

How would you describe your style?
Oh gosh that’s hard! Em, how about a wee girl playing dress up at the end of the rainbow?!

If you had 10 minutes to get ready for a party, what would you throw together?
A patterned vintage silk dress, bright tights and a giant technicolour, sparkly necklace. Oh and of course a slick of bright red/pink/coral lipstick.

iFashion is all about shopping online. What are your favourite online shops and why?
I love ASOS – they have such a phenomenal own label collection, and then such a depth of labels that you can’t find elsewhere. Their mails, site and magazine.

What is the one item you would save for a year to purchase?
Ooh good question. I think it’d have to be a one-off piece of vintage jewellery – a statement necklace or cocktail ring.

Whose style do you currently admire and why?
I’m always captivated by the ladies on Advanced Style, and my all-time fashion idol is Iris Apfel. I’d like to be her when I grow up.

What will you be wearing this season?
Lots and lots of colour, layers and knits – teamed with my AW staple – bright, patterned or hand-printed hosiery. And new for this year, I think I’m going to start wearing a lot more hats, and sheepskin collars from Gemma Lister.

Finally what is your favourite thing about being a blogger?
This one is personal to Joe and me, but I think the best thing about our blog is that we’ve got a time capsule of our relationship for the last three years. That’s something I know I’ll always cherish.
