For this week’s blogger style, iFashion spent 10 minutes talking to Dutch fashion blogger Iris Gravemaker. Since starting her personal style blog, Fashion Zen, Iris has become a much admired member of the blogging community, with a legion of fans who can’t get enough of her classic style. The fashion student has also started up her own vintage webshop, selling feminine and unique vintage wear. Visit Iris’ blog at Fashionzen.blogspot.com and shop Fashionzenvintage.com.
What inspired you to start Fashion Zen?
I always loved reading other blogs and one day I thought ‘why not start my own?’. I love to inspire people with my outfits and give my vision on fashion. Besides that, it is really nice meeting other fashion-minded people and making contacts in the fashion industry.
How would you describe your signature style?
Feminine, but always with a certain edge.
You own a vintage webshop (www.fashionzenvintage.com). How do you go about sourcing and selecting vintage clothing?
I buy from fleamarkets and secondhand shops all over the world. In Paris I always find the most beautiful vintage.
What advice do you have for other girls who want to start up a webshop?
Prepare well before you start selling. Go to your local chamber of commerce to get information about all the permits, taxes and other rules before you open your webshop. And be different, there are a lot of vintage selling webshops out there and you have to distinguish yourself.
Who is your favourite fashion blogger and why?
I love Betty from Le Blog de Betty and I love streetstyle blogs like Stockholm Streetstyle.
iFashion is all about shopping online. What are your favourite online boutiques?
I love ASOS, Topshop, Netaporter, My Theresa, and Zara.
What S/S trend are you looking forward to wearing?
I love all the pastel colours I got to see on the runway.
Do you think blogging has any negatives?
No, I haven’t found any. Ok, maybe when it’s typically Dutch weather (rainy and cold) and you have to go outside to take an outfit photo…
Finally, if any, what are you top New Year’s resolutions?
I want to enjoy life more and take it day by day. I am a really a busy person and most of the time I tend to rush through life.
