The stars have certainly been dressing to impress this month, combating the January blues with an array of gorgeous dresses to mark the beginning of awards season. We count down our favourites so far.

Elle Fanning looked stunning in Rodarte at the Critic’s Choice Awards. The young style icon championed the perfect spring colour palette, easily outshining some of the veteran red carpet attendees at the same event. Also winning us over with sumptuous bright shades, Elizabeth Olsen dazzled in an Emilio Pucci yellow embellished dress.

It seems that a best dressed list is never complete nowadays if Rooney Mara doesn’t feature somewhere. She continued to steam ahead of the style marathon in a gorgeous little black dress at the Paris premiere of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. As the saying goes ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, Rooney proved it in yet another black gown at the Golden Globes, this time a stunning Nina Ricci creation.

Glee star Dianna Argon looked red hot in Giles at the Globes. The multiple tiers and cut-outs made this racy dress really stand out, even if the carpet happened to be the same colour! Wearing a vintage-inspired white lace gown, Jessica Biel also looked angelic at the Golden Globes. Perhaps she is dreaming of her wedding already, as the beautiful Elie Saab gown was decidedly Bridal looking.

Kate Middleton’s War Horse gown is also on our list. The lacy Temperley number was elegant, regal and right on trend; just like the lady herself. Finally, Angelina Jolie also wore white, but her sleek silk Versace gown with red shoulder detailing was our clear winner. Jolie oozes sex appeal and this dress was no exception. Then again, with Brad Pitt being the ultimate accessory, how could you FAIL to impress.
