Not only does our wardrobe have to change for A/W, but our make-up needs a new season shake up too. Taking inspiration from the hottest catwalk looks, iFashion looks at the beauty trends making a bold or barely there statement this A/W.
THE BOLD LIP
Seen on many catwalks, Gucci, House of Holland, Temperely and Missoni to name a few, the bold lip is back in berry hues and classic colours. The best lipsticks for the job should be rich and matt in colour. First outline the lip area with a liner of the same (or similar) colour and thickly paint the lipstick on in between the lines. For ultimate lasting power, seal the colour with some Lipcote.
We love the new Kate Moss for Rimmel collection in shade 1 and shade 4.
DISCO TECH
Look to the likes of Zac Posen and a toned-down Vivienne Westwood red label for inspiration on how to rock the shimmering metallic look for A/W 2011. Midnight blues and silvers are the hottest shades, emphasised with black eyeliner. Colours should be rich and decadent, not overly heavy, with an injection of surprise tones such as lime green or bright coral.
Use the darkest colours on your lids an outer corners and the lighter colours closer to the brow bone and the inner corners. We like the Quattro eye shadow palettes from Gosh, retailing for around £8.49, they include four shimmering colours that won’t break the bank. If you’re looking to treat yourself, MAC have a great range of highly pigmented shadows.
MODERN NATURALS
Fresh, dewy and ultra-modern, the key to creating this look is about highlighting the skin so it looks flawless and turning to gentle beiges and pinks without a hint of rouge. Jonathan Suanders, Jaeger London and Alberta Ferretti all favoured this next to natural look.
A highlighter and good liquid foundation is essential. Look to Benefit for the best products. We love Moon Beam and Watts Up, both great facial brighteners and highlighters. For lips, work a subtle tint such as Posie Tint.
