It may still be winter but that hasn’t stopped the iFashion team casting their minds towards what trends to buy into for SS12. We are not only dreaming about pastels, 1920′s decadence and sports luxe wear, but also about experimenting with all the pretty make-up looks that were seen on the September catwalks.
Make like Kate the great and the other models at Louis Vuitton’s SS12 show and work dewy skin, peachy cheeks and blush pink lips. The almost doll like look was pulled together with lashings of mascara (and even a pair of false lashes here and there a la Marc Jacobs). Keep eyebrows full, arched and lightly feathered.
In stark contrast, Jean Paul Gaultier rocked a retro beauty. Classic red lips, pristinely lined cat eyes and a touch of mascara to pull the look together. However, like Vuitton, skin was kept fresh and dewy; the perfect option for heady summer days when too heavily applied makeup can slide.
Girls who like to make a dramatic statement can rejoice, as heavy eyes were seen at Miu Miu and Moschino. During a season where less is usually more, it was refreshing to see such bold and experimental looks perfect for statement making fashionistas to copy. Miu Miu models walked with heavily applied scarlet shadow, while Moschino also piled on the eyeshadow when peepers were not hidden behind glasses.
For girls who prefer a fresh faced look, yet still want to experiment, subtle embellishment was a gorgeous new trend to emerge from visionary brands Chanel and Givenchy. The mystical Chanel seascape, dreamt up by Karl Lagerfeld, saw the models shimmy down the catwalk subtly adorned with pearly drops applied to eyes, noses, eyebrows and even chins. Givenchy halved sequins that were applied both to the upper and lower lids, creating an enchanting new beauty look that we predict will be big.
If SS12 was all about the eyes, contemporary designer Mary Katrantzou continued to push boundaries with her models walking down the runway with the brightest of blue, lime green and rich fuchsia lips. Certainly not a trend for wallflowers, Thierry Mugler championed statement lips with Lady Gaga esque glittery acid green smackers. Stunning but we think we will leave this look to the professionals!
