The late Amy Winehouse’s dress, worn on the infamous Back to Black album cover, is due to go up for auction to raise money for the charity her father Mitch set up in her memory. The dress designer, Disaya Sorakraikitikul, wanted to put the dress up for auction after hearing the tragic news about Amy’s passing and the formation of the Amy Winehouse Foundation. All the proceeds raised from the sale will go directly to the charity and the dress is thought to go for between £10,000 and £20,000.
Disaya Sorakraikitikul did not get to meet Amy Winehouse in person, but was apparently delighted when she was contacted about supplying the dress to Amy’s then stylist. The white bustier dress, styled on the cover with a red leather tie belt, suited Amy’s own girly meets grungy style perfectly and will surely find a good home with one of her many adoring fans. It will be sold at Kerry Taylor’s Passion for Fashion auction at La Galleria in London on November the 29th. The news comes just after two tracks from Amy’s posthumous album ‘Amy Winehouse Lioness: Hidden Treasures’ were leaked online.
