It was one of the biggest nights in awards season last night as all the A-listers gathered for the annual Golden Globes.

Scooping up awards were Meryl Streep, who won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama, for her role in Iron Lady, Kate Winslet, who won best performance by an actress in a mini-series, for her role in Mildred Pierce and Michelle Williams, who won Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical, for her role in My Week with Marilyn.

Other winners included Claire Danes, Morgan Freeman and George Clooney.

We were of course a little more interested in the winners on the red carpet, as the celebrities showed off their gowns choices for the evening.

Many a celeb opted for white on the red carpet including Angelina Jolie. Angie tops our best dressed list for the evening in this stunning Versace gown. Matched with red accessories, bright red lips and Brad Pitt – how could she go wrong?

Kate Beckinsale, who showed off her curves in Roberto Cavalli, also opted for white, alongside Nicole Kidman in a beautiful Versace gown and Charlize Theron in a Dior Couture gown, split to the thigh. Jessica Biel also joined the white club in a lace Elie Saab gown.

Kate Winslet went for a monochrome mix in Jenny Packham and one of our favourites, Rooney Mara, arrived in her signature black, opting for a Nina Ricci gown, with Mila Kunis following suit in a black Dior creation.

Natalie Portman decided to be a little difference in a bright pink gown – love it! Also brightening up the red carpet was Reese Witherspoon, who chose a fishtail Zac Posen dresss in bright red to match the carpet. Elle Macpherson also chose a Zac Posen fishtail, but with slightly more embellishment and in white to match some of the other celeb choices on the night. Evan Wood also stuck to the mermaid theme in a green Gucci gown.

Zooey Deschanel opted for green, mixed with black, in a custom made Prada gown and Emma Stone toned it down slightly in Lanvin – but of course looks just as gorgeous. Lea Michelle looked sexy in Marchesa with a metallic twist and Michelle Williams went for a quirky Jason Wu blue number.

All in all a very good night for the red carpet!
