The stars gathered last night for the 30th annual American Music Awards.

The night, however, was minus a few superstars. Adele did Britain proud by scooping up three awards but was unable to collect them in person after recovering from vocal chord surgery. Rihanna was busy performing on X-Factor and Beyonce was unable to make the event. Still, some of the younger stars managed to hold down the fort.

Taylor Swift was the belle of the ball as she took home the Artist of the Year Award. Taylor also topped the best dressed category of the evening, wearing a Reem Acra sparkling metallic golden gown she dazzled on the red carpet.

It seemed metallic was the trend for the evening. Selena Gomez went for a plunging pale gold Giorgio Armani gown, with a thigh high split and of course the accessory every girl wants, Justin Bieber, on her arm.

Jennifer Hudson also followed suit in a metallic Jenny Packham mini dress. Showing off her fabulous figure (which we still can’t get over), Jennifer strutted her stuff down the red carpet.

Nicki Minaj, who took home two awards on the night, looked a little less quirky than usual with a black and green gown.

Katy Perry went for the slightly quirky gown, as always, though still managed to look beautiful. She opted for a Vivienne Westwood Chinese-print figure hugging dress.
