Chanel, so long synonymous with timeless appeal and classic style, is rumoured to be in talks about a rather unusual choice to front the new S/S 2012 campaigns. WWD has heard rumours about Karl Lagerfeld casting edgy 24-year-old model Alice Dellal, as the new Chanel poster girl.
Famous for her undercut and prominence in the London social circuit, the model was FROW at many of the fashion shows. Her signature look of ripped fishnets, DMs and biker jackets sit well with her rock ‘n roll attitude. When she is not modelling, she plays the drums in the band Thrush Metal, so her individuality must be a huge attraction to Lagerfeld. After all, he has been known for choosing a rather diverse range of individuals to grace Chanel’s ad campaigns, lest we forget Lilly Allen, who modelled sunglasses back in 2009.
If indeed the rumours are true, we can’t wait to see how the shots will turn out. Bringing a punk-rock edge to the rather prim and proper Chanel boucle jackets is surely a commendable approach. After all, we love a bit of fashionable controversy!
