A Lovely Vintage

We all love vintage! Well if you don’t we do and after what we came across recently you definitely will!!

Hunting around for true vintage and for amazing second hand items can sometimes be draining. You have to dig your way through a lot of rubbish to find your gold. But what if the gold were all in one place? Well it is… one Lovely place…

Lovely’s Vintage Emporium is fast becoming one of our favourite online shopping destinations. The site is the branchild of stylist and journalist Lynnette Peck and we had a quick chat with her to ask her about her inspiration and hopes for the site.

The lovely Lynnette has worked as a magazine fashion & beauty director and editor for almost 20 years, with key roles at magazines including Cosmopolitan, Eve, Now, Vogue Australia, Saga and New Woman.

“I launched and edited magazines, styled numerous celebrities (such as Emma Bunton, Charlotte Church and Gail Porter) helping them look fabulous on photo shoots, presented on TV and radio and consulted for fashion and beauty brands,” she said.

“During this, my main passion has been vintage – from clothes to accessories, from my first 1950s pink beaded cardigan bought at a market when I was 13, to a recently acquired vivid red Ossie Clark dress that I can’t bear to sell, I am a long-time collector and enthusiast of all things vintage. With my vast knowledge of vintage combined with years of fashion styling and magazine experience I decided to set up my ultimate dream – an online vintage fashion boutique.”

So what makes Lovely’s special? (As if we have to ask):

“I believe it is the first on-trend, fashion-current, online vintage boutique to offer beautiful and unusual one-offs in first-class condition that are still relevant to the way we live now (and that look fabulous when mixed with high street favourites). As I attend London Fashion Week every season and fashion press events every week and style photoshoots regularly, I am well placed to ensure that the vintage on www.lovelysvintageemporium.com is current and always of the moment,” said Lynnette.

While we all love our vintage that doesn’t mean we want to leave the high street behind completely and Lynnette agrees:

“Dressing up your high street finds from TopShop or Whistles with a vintage piece is the fastest way to create a current but unique look. Everything on www.lovelysvintageemporium.com is styled by me on photoshoots, so I have taken all the hard work out of deciding ‘what-to-wear-with-what’ for my customers.”

Lynnette has roped in help from her famous husband for the site – Nick Bateman (on first series of Big Brother; www.nickbateman.com). Surprisingly Nick is a fellow vintage-ista!

“He has been carefully sourcing, treasuring and tucking away vintage watches and cufflinks for many years,” she said. “A small selection of these will be available for sale at a later date.”

Lynnette has an expanding network of clients, situated throughout the UK and worldwide.

“My first fan was American musician Nicki Minaj (www.myspace.com/nickiminaj), the MOBO Award nominee, whose stylist requested some pieces from me earlier this year,” she explained.

Lynnette also added that you don’t have to be famous to get star treatment: “If you are looking for something unique – or particularly spectacular - Lovely’s Vintage Emporium offers a complete ‘Vintage Vision’ service sourcing pieces for clients on request; with personal shopping and styling by me that does not have to be vintage related. Treat yourself, a friend or family member to a day out shopping with or having a wardrobe makeover. Conversely, if people have anything truly unusual or in mint condition to sell that is from the 1920s to 1980s, they should contact me for information about our acquisition procedure.”
